Maine: The 100 mile wilderness and Mt. Katahdin

This section of Maine is the last section Madeline and I walked together. Maine is the most remote and wild section of the trail. There are many lakes and ponds, and little human development in the interior of the state. Thus, the views from mountaintops show endless forest and water, no houses, or roads, or industry, just endless wilderness. I saw a weasel like creature called a Pine Martin. In Maine, the streams must be forded because they don't build bridges, (the water is piercingly cold).
